Gone Fishing

You can take a girl out of the islands but you can never take the islands out of that girl. Oh yeah! I'll always be an Aparriana.

I would still love the ocean, the breeze, sand, sun, the smell of it all, the seashells, the blue waters, the crushing wind, the golden sunset and the blanket of darkness. Oh, I can't tell you enough but needless to say, I feel lucky to have called the Baystate my new home because Massachusetts is a home to the US' best beaches --- Cape Cod is close by my city.
This is my view on the way to Falmouth. Lovely ha, especially driving besides a Ferrari. Hahahahah. I can dream and dream I do!
Needless to say, I splatter every time I am within sight of ANY body of water. It reminds me of my whole being! I could tell you it reminds me of my childhood but that would be a lie or an understatement--- because the water is my life! It is my family's bread and butter. My whole being!

Any chance I get, I take advantage. With my life now though it's a little hard. But hey, we go all the time. Pool, sea, ocean--- even ponds!

Today let me show you my happiness!

To show you how happy I am! Not that I need to!

While Mr. Hubbs is busy fishing, I just soak in all the array of senses the surrounding brings! By the way, he caught 61 fishes! That's my man!

What better treat than this? Whooh! Perfect punctuation to a wonderful day!

The hard part of fishing? Cleaning the fish! But don't worry my friends, after all, I am from a fishing village whose livelihood is fishing. So it's easy for me. Anyone needs lesson? I have to be honest though, I feel like buying it is easier! Hahahahah, but the point is the fun and bonding time I spend with Mr. Hubbs is priceless. Don't you think?

Oh well, nothing beats fresh produce! 😘💃. Makes me happy every time!

When you push yourself to the limit, your body gives up

I worked 2 shifts last Friday 3pm-7:30am the next morning, Saturday. I went straight home to take a shower because I promised Ice and KC I would take them to American Girl in Natick Collection. Anyway, Mr. Hubbs had a different plan, without telling ( what's new?). He was to go fishing with our good friend Eric. I got all too excited because you know me, I love the water. Falmouth have the best swimming waters. I asked if Sol ( my good friend and Eric's wife) would come and I'd go with them and we will go see the Nobska Lighthouse. I planned to tour the Oceonagraphic Institute. The fishing happened, the Nobska Lighthouse is breathtaking, but no more time for the last item on the list. Speaking of Nobska, it is beautiful. If you go atop the hills, you can see a scenery like never before. You are surrounded with water views and lush greenery and the breeze is as fresh as it can be. These pictures do no justice to this place. By then it was about 3pm and everyone's hungry. I read a little while ago about Lobster Trap being a wicked local favorite, and so we went. I was not disappointed. The food is great, good selection and a beautiful ambience. The prices are a little steep, kinda expected because of the location, the Cape. We went to checkout another fishing location in Wareham MA, but our fishing group has moved back to Falmouth. We went home and that's when I felt the need to rest. I had so much fun I forgot I have not gotten any sleep for the past 24hrs. The killer though is knowing I have to go to work at 11pm again.

So, let's do a review:

Friday- 3-11pm
            11pm-7am shifts
Falmouth- 8:30am-6pm
Holbrook- 7pm-10pm
Quincy-1020:1030 ( to take a very, very quick shower)
Boston-11:15pm at Children's Hospital Boston.
friends, I am still here! Yeas, I am still here!

Oh , and by the way, I worked the whole week and accumulated 32 hrs OT from the last 2 weeks! Sarcasm to the max!!!

I am not complaining though. I still have a job, healthy family and wonderful friends. I have to save up a little bit of vacation money. We are going away for 2 weeks in  August. To where? Secret!

Happy Subday peeps!

Saturday is for fishing

Mr. Hubbs and I decided that we will just spend the day fishing. We usually go to Falmouth to fish, well, mostly, I play in the water. I am a water baby, being raised in Aparri must be to blame. What i love about that fishing spot though is its proximity to Woods Hole, we can go to the Wood's Hole Oceonographic Institute and to do a  a whole lot more. There's a lot of unique restaurant, quaint shops and warm beaches.  Falmouth is a beautiful, historic town in Cape Cod MA.

We started off at Wareham, touted as the gateway to Cape Cod. We moved after 2 hours in the dock with little to show off.  Then, we proceeded to Falmouth.

Let me just show you pictures of the day and i will let you gauge the "fun" level we had today.

We started the day at 10am. We decided to drive two cars because my 3 in-laws plus my sister-in-law's hubbs came too. I prefer this set-up eventhough it is more gas money because with extra car, the kids and I can always go roam around town if we get bored with fishing.

Here, Lovely ( Ma Lovella), my kids' cousin who people used to think was one of my children because she used to tag along with us a LOT ( now, she is 15 and waaay too busy) carries KC.

Our customary "feet" shot + Tito Eddy's toes, yikes!!!

First catch of the day! yes! From Tito Rey.

Kuya Pherry got a double whammy! Good catch!

And these little  shrimps(?) abound just on the sides of the wood dock, with little crabs! I forgot to take photos of the crabs.

Yes, Josh loves to reel. What amazes me is that KC can throw and reel really well, better than the boys, i must say.

Oh, we took our new Keen's-sandals for a spin today. We love these sandals-  light, flexible, washable and those toe protectors are industry standard. I know, I sound like a sales rep, but I am not. Funny!

For some unexplained reason, every fishing trip, we catch this ugly creature and up to now, I have not researched the name. Help me identify this ugly, scary creature of the wild. hahhahha.

That usually signals that it is time to go home, or in this case to move...

Off we go to Falmouth.... where the water is clear and warmer compared to the rest of the Cape.

Josh found some digging crabs. I asked him what they were and he said digging crabs, I must have had the "question" look, that he went on to explain that they dig to hide, therefore they are digging crabs...

Water, sand, shells bring back nostalgic childhood memories. Ahhhh, Aparri!

I must have done this moment in my life a few hundred thousand times. You see I live I live in a town surrounded with water, the Cagayan River nd South China Sea. The mouth of the great Cagayan River is right in my neck of the woods.

I usually would take snapshots of the kids, showing how big they are now, like here. Joshua's feet were so tiny, now look at these! My babies are growing and soon, I will be dealing with beach outings wityh their teen age friends, or girlfriends.

The day is filled with so much fun, fish and family! Tons of fish- and a striper bass! Here is my obligatory shot for my blog... I just say that so KC will take a picture of me... Shhhh. How about you? How does your family spend weekends?
